Bodybuilder | Collinsville, IL
Growing up playing year round soccer, I used weight training to gain a competitive advantage on the soccer field! I got my first gym membership at 11 and have been at it ever since. I didn't become fully committed to the iron game until after my soccer career was over.
MY "AHA" MOMENT
This actually started after my first show back in 1999, at the Caveman Classic. I had just turned 25 years old and I was seriously hooked after this show! Having competed in team sports, mainly soccer, at the collegiate Division 1 level I had found something new in bodybuilding. Bodybuilding gave me the opportunity to compete against myself and it definitely filled the void of soccer.
Bodybuiding is a 24/7/365 relentless pursuit of perfection. It has to be one of the toughest hobbies, in my case, known to man.
MY SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
I have always been self motivated! I guess the fear of failing has always motivated me. I like to think I've been successful in everything I've done. I feel bodybuilding and sports for that matter instilled valuable principles and values that have been used in all facets of my life.
THE NEVER SETTLE ATTITUDE
"Never Settle" is an attitude that pushes me to want to do better. Out work, out diet the competition with bodybuilding! In life this motto takes on greater meaning, because it means I will never be complacent or just happy with things. "Never Settle" means moving forward while continuing to evolve in a fucked up world.
In bodybuilding it was placing 2nd at the 2003 NPC Jr Nationals. Non bodybuilding accomplishment is Marrying my beautiful wife Gillian and parenting my two children Brady and Brooklyn.
THE THING THAT KEEPS ME GOING
What keeps me going is the thought of not being able to anymore. I cherish each day in the gym and it is my release, my escape. As my competitive bodybuilding window is starting to close, I treasure each day in the gym.
THE END GOAL
The end goal is to continue to truly make a difference! It is important for me to give back in anyway I can!. The industry can be ruthless and unforgiving, but living a healthy consistent lifestyle is priceless.
