If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re not worried about where you’re going to be laying your head down tonight. You’re also most likely not thinking about if you’ll get to eat tomorrow, have clean drinking water, or clothes to wear.
But unfortunately, that is reality for many kids. In the US and every country of the world. And I don’t know about you, but that breaks my heart.
Which is why at 1st Phorm, we decided to do something about it. Because we believe that if we truly want to make an impact and leave the world in a better place than we found it … We have to take action and work to help those in need - Especially the kids who have a lot less control over their situation, environment and resources.
So in 2018, we decided to take action and asked our incredible community to join in on 30 days of fitness to help raise as much money for kids in need as we could.
That's when the 30 For The Kids Challenge was born!
How Did The 30 For The Kids Challenge Start?
We started first with simply taking care of kids here in St. Louis around Christmas time. Helping to provide food, clothes, toys, personal hygiene supplies, and shoes.
Shortly after, we partnered with our good friends at Brace For Impact to fund and support an entire orphanage in Cap Haiten, Haiti: The IDADEE Orphanage.
…At least, that’s how 30 For The Kids started. But, it certainly did not stop there.
With the quickly growing success of the challenge, and the unbelievable amount of support we got from everyone in our community ... We knew 30 For The Kids could grow to become so much more.
Therefore, we began thinking about how we could utilize 30 For The Kids more regularly to help kids in need. Whether that was here locally in St. Louis, Missouri, throughout the United States, or down in Haiti.
As of today, we don’t only partner with Brace For Impact to support the IDADEE orphanage and the surrounding community in Haiti. We've also expanded our impact in the local community through a handful of organizations that are making a real difference in the lives of the kids.
Where Does The Money From 30 For The Kids Go?
First, I think it’s important to know that 100% of the proceeds from the Challenge goes directly to support the kids. There are no salaries or payment to the people who run 30 For The Kids. It’s all about raising as much money as possible!
While Brace For Impact, and the IDADEE orphanage in Haiti, has been an area of a bigger impact … There are several different organizations and charities we’ve helped support over the years. Just to name a few…
We’ve partnered with The Covering House which helps young girls who've been victims of sex trafficking. They offer housing, treatment, and protection for these girls so they can make a full recovery and have a chance at an amazing future.
We’ve also partnered with Lift For Life Gym, another amazing organization in St. Louis, Missouri. Life For Life Gym is a full service after-school youth activity center. They offer services that are designed to help alleviate some of the challenges and stress these kids face daily.
We're talking about feeding, clothing, and tutoring for the kids as well as sports, fitness, and much more! Lift For Life's mission is to build a sense of resiliency that can help the kids achieve success personally, academically, and professionally!
On top of that, we've also supported All Kids Bike! Through 30 For The Kids, we've supplied 8 schools with bikes and learn-to-ride programs. All Kids Bike believes that learning to ride can build confidence and bring joy to the kids who truly need it.
Again, that is just to name a few. With each 30 For The Kids Challenge, the goal is to make an even bigger impact with every challenge.
And in just 6 years of regular 30 For The Kids Challenges ... We’ve been able to raise over 1 million dollars to give these kids a far better life and future!
If this is a cause you can get behind, you’ll be glad to know how easy it is to get involved. Not to mention, 30 For The Kids is an excellent tool you can use to hold yourself accountable to living a healthier lifestyle!
The 30 For The Kids Challenge is fun, easy to enter, and open to anyone and everyone who wants to make a difference! So, how does the 30 For The Kids challenge work?
How Does The 30 For The Kids Challenge Work?
The idea behind 30 For The Kids was simple: We’re each going to donate $30, and commit the next 30 days to getting better through fitness.
With 30 For The Kids, you’re required to complete one of the 5 specified workouts every day during the 30 days of the challenge:
